When a flare hits
Autoimmune flares feel like a system-wide crash: deep fatigue, brain fog, aches, and low mood. The goal isn't to push through — it's to gently support your body while it recalibrates.
The daily reset
Morning (gentle start)
- Warm lemon water — hydration supports lymph and digestion
- Protein-rich breakfast — stabilizes blood sugar, which steadies inflammation
- 5 minutes of light lymphatic self-massage on neck and jaw
Midday (nourish)
- Anti-inflammatory lunch — leafy greens, healthy fat, clean protein
- 10-minute walk — gentle movement keeps lymph flowing
- Rest with legs elevated for 10 minutes
Evening (wind down)
- Epsom salt bath — magnesium supports relaxation and lymph flow
- No screens 30 min before bed — sleep is when inflammation clears
- Diaphragmatic breathing — 5 minutes of slow belly breaths
What to avoid during a flare
- Skipping meals (destabilizes blood sugar)
- High-intensity exercise (adds stress load)
- Caffeine and alcohol late in the day
Flares are your body asking for care, not proof of failure. Slow down and let it recover.
