Why it helps
Your lymphatic system relies on movement — not a pump — to circulate. Gentle self-massage encourages flow, eases fluid retention, and can calm systemic inflammation over time.
The routine (10 minutes)
- Clear the nodes (2 min): Using light pressure, gently stretch the skin above your collarbones and under your arms in slow circles. Always work toward the heart.
- Neck & jaw (2 min): With flat fingers, glide gently from the ears down the sides of the neck.
- Face (2 min): Soft outward strokes from the center of the face, then down the neck to drain.
- Arms (2 min): Light sweeping strokes from wrist to shoulder.
- Legs (2 min): Start at the ankle, sweep gently upward toward the groin.
Tips
- Use a light touch — you're moving fluid just beneath the skin, not working muscle.
- Best done on dry skin or with a few drops of oil.
- Avoid active infections, and skip areas with recent surgery or injury.
Consistency matters more than pressure. A few minutes daily is far more effective than an occasional deep session.
